What can we learn from Justin Bieber's success? Let's look at 3 things in this post.

What can we learn from Justin Bieber’s success? Let’s look at 3 things in this post.

I know you’re probably thinking…”Al, are you a Justin Bieber fan? Are you a “belie-ber”? Well, not especially but I was always interested in his story. Perhaps some of you know that he was discovered on YouTube and from there became a pop music superstar and is known all around the world.

I had heard about that too but I knew there had to be more to his story. What was so special about Justin Bieber? Was he just the first to put his music online? Did he and his parents have a marketing strategy from the beginning? Or was he just simply in the right place at the right time?

As I was intrigued by all of these questions, I recently watched his documentary called, “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” to find the answers. I must say that I really enjoyed the movie but in addition to that, I was able to pull out three valuable lessons that we can learn from Justin’s success and apply it to ourselves as English language learners.

So what can we learn from “Silver Linings Playbook”?

The movie became very popular largely due to the song, “Let It Go” which you have probably heard on the radio, or out in public by now. (Here is the music video with lyrics)

So what can we learn from this Disney movie?

Studying English with Movies: ELEKTRA

“Elektra” starring Jennifer Garner

For the second lesson of Studying English with Movies, we’re going to take a look at a scene from the superhero movie, “Elektra”. I borrowed this DVD from a friend a few years ago and I decided to finally watch it the other day. Overall, it’s not a great movie, but as always, I like to find dialogue that can be used to help us learn English. In today’s scene we have Elektra, played by the beautiful Jennifer Garner talking to Abby, played by actress Kirsten Prout.
