Here are my thoughts and suggestions:

Of course both are important for developing knowledge and fluency in a foreign language. Both reading and listening have advantages and disadvantages. Since listening is related to speaking in terms of their aural qualities, listening can help you with pronunciation, intonation, and pacing. On the other hand, reading can help you build vocabulary and phrases that you can use. If I have to choose only one, which one would I choose? Watch this episode and find out!

Last weekend, I had the fortunate opportunity to attend a small gathering where I met the Ambassador to Japan from the country of Kosovo, Ahmet Shala. For those who are unfamiliar, “The Hobbit” is a book written by J.R.R. Tolkien to complement his “Lord of the Rings” series. It is the tale of a younger Bilbo Baggins and his adventures with the One Ring and was originally aimed for children. There was a popular animated version of this story made into a movie so being a huge fan of the book, that film, and the “Lord of the Rings” movies, I was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie. Was it as good as I hoped?
