意見についてはアメリカと日本の文化や考え方が違います。日本では平和とグループのハーモニーが大事なことだから自分の意見を言うのはアメリカよりしません。アメリカでは色々な考え方とディベートが好きだから自分の意見を言うチャンスが多いです。正しいか正しくないことじゃないけど英語を勉強している日本人が自分の意見を表す練習は少ないです。今日、かんたんな3ステップシステムを教えたいと思います。
1.形容詞が必要
もし形容詞を使わないんだったら、意見になりません。
“Many people like ‘The Matrix.’”
これはファクトだから意見じゃないです。
まず、よく知っている話題を選んでください。ぼくは”Movies”が好きだから使います。形容詞は”exciting”です。文を作りましょう。
“’The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie.”
すばらしい!ちゃんとの意見です!もっと強いフィーリングがあったら”the most”を使えばいいと思います。
“’The Matrix’ is the most exciting movie.”
なんでこれが意見ですか?なぜならばほかの人が違う意見持っているからです!それは大丈夫!あなたの意見だから!
2.短い表現をアタッチする
もっとクリアに伝えるために”I think”か”In my opinion”を使いましょう。
“In my opinion, ‘The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie.”
ナイス!どんどんネイティブスピーカーのように話しています!
3.理由を言う
意見をサポートするために理由を表します。3メインポイントを使ってください:事実、実例、経験
事実の場合は:”In fact,…”
“In fact, Keanu Reeves practiced kung fu for four months before shooting.”
実例の場合は:”For example,…”
“For example, the kung fu scenes were so well done.”
経験の場合は:”One time,…” or “When I…”
“When I saw ‘The Matrix’ at the theater, the whole audience clapped at the end.”
それだけです!ダイアログを読んでみてください:
A: What kind of movies do you like?
B: I really like Action Movies. In my opinion,‘The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie!
A: Oh, really? Why did you like it?
B: Well, the story was good and I loved the action. For example, the kung fu scenes were so well done. In fact, Keanu Reeves practiced kung fu for four months before shooting.
A: Wow! I’ll have to check it out!
You can do it! 頑張って使ってみてください!あなたの意見を聞くことを楽しみにしています。

When it comes to opinions, it seems that there is just a basic culture difference between Japanese and Western cultures. In Japan, peace and harmony in the group is a very important principle, so to speak one’s own opinion is not so common. In America, we welcome different ideas and enjoy debating with one another. It’s not right or wrong in either place. However, it means that most Japanese students of English, don’t have much practice expressing their own opinions. Today, I will show you an easy way to do it.
1. Your Opinion should have an Adjective
If you do not have an Adjective, you rarely have an opinion.
“Many people like ‘The Matrix.’”
This is a fact or an observation but it is NOT an opinion.
Start with a topic you’re familiar with. I’ll use ‘movies’ as an example. Now for my adjective, I’ll use ‘exciting.’ Let’s make a simple sentence:
“’The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie.”
Great! That is a solid opinion! Easy, right? To make an even stronger statement, use ‘the most.’
“’The Matrix’ is the most exciting movie.”
The reason this works is because other people may disagree with you. That’s ok! It is YOUR opinion!
2. Add a Simple Phrase to Enhance your Opinion
Now that we have our basic opinion, let’s add a little more. Let’s use “I think” or “In my opinion.”
“In my opinion, ‘The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie.”
Fantastic! You are sounding more and more like a native speaker!
3. Give Reasons to Support your Opinion
The final thing is to give reasons why you feel that way. You can do this by using 3 key ideas: Facts, Examples, and Experiences.
a. To give a fact, you can use, “In fact,…”
“In fact, Keanu Reeves practiced kung fu for four months before shooting.”
b. To give an example, you can use, “For example,…”
“For example, the kung fu scenes were so well done.”
c. To give your personal experience, you can use, “One time…” or “When I…”
“When I saw ‘The Matrix’ at the theater, the whole audience clapped at the end.”
That’s it! Here’s an example dialogue:
A: What kind of movies do you like?
B: I really like Action Movies. In my opinion,‘The Matrix’ is a very exciting movie!
A: Oh, really? Why did you like it?
B: Well, the story was good and I loved the action. For example, the kung fu scenes were so well done. In fact, Keanu Reeves practiced kung fu for four months before shooting.
A: Wow! I’ll have to check it out!
You can do it! Just remember the 3 easy steps and I look forward to hearing your opinions!
