Mission: Impossible is back after a 5-year absence. Tom Cruise returns in the lead role but with a slightly different supporting cast. How does MI4 compare to the other three “Missions”? Find out->
Story: The movie begins with the MI team in Russia on an assignment to infiltrate the Kremlin in Moscow. After a bomb explodes, Ethan Hunt’s organization, the IMF, is accused of the crime and is shut down. Meanwhile, a Swedish madman is close to obtaining nuclear launch codes which will allow him to carry out a disastrous plan.
If you are fans of the first 3 “Missions” you will not be disappointed in this movie. It has all the trademark “Mission: Impossible” gadgets and tactical sequences and has taken them to a whole new level.
You may have noticed the movie poster or seen the commercials in which Tom Cruise is scaling the side of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which is the tallest building in the world. That scene alone is worth the price of the ticket but it is only a small part of the movie. The other gadgets and action scenes are well thought out and executed.
So what does “Ghost Protocol” mean? Well, because the IMF is shut down, Ethan Hunt and his team are considered to be terrorists if they are caught. Their mission to track down the nuclear device is completely off the record. “Ghost Protocol” means that they have no backup or support and are doing the mission only to clear their names.
As mentioned earlier, there is a whole new team of agents including Jeremy Renner from “The Hurt Locker.” They all do a good job of filling their roles and add to the movie nicely. “MI4” is directed by Brad Bird and more importantly produced by J.J. Abrams, who directed “MI3.” His great sense for combining action with emotion is not as evident in this movie as the last, but still done very well.
Overall, I highly recommend this film. Whether you are a fan of the series or not, you have to respect what Tom Cruise has done to bring this movie to the fans. It is another major achievement for the “Mission: Impossible” series and a fun movie for all!
