In one of my recent lessons with a student, we were curious about which movies had made the most money in sales worldwide. To my surprise, we found out that “Furious 7” was 5th on that list! If you’re not familiar with the title, “Furious 7” is the 7th movie in the series which started with “The Fast and the Furious” back in 2001. It stars Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker in his final film. I really enjoyed the first six movies in the series so what more could they do in “Furious 7”? I was more than excited to find out! Here is my review.

Watch “Furious 7” Now!

furious-7-mainStory: This movie continues from “Fast and Furious 6” where we last saw the bad guy thrown off of a speeding airplane by Vin Diesel. In “Furious 7” the brother of the former villain, played by Jason Statham, vows to get revenge against Vin Diesel and his crew. After learning about a new technology that could be used to turn any technological device into a weapon, the two sides must race to intercept the hacker who developed the technology.

Let’s get right to the point. This is an action movie in its purest form. The story gets a bit complicated with so many characters showing up at different times. It’s just fun to sit back and watch the action sequences play out. All you need to know is that Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and the normal crew are the good guys and everyone else is against them.

The “Fast and the Furious” movies are known for their car racing scenes and overall breathtaking action shots. The movie makers seem to keep looking for how they can outdo the previous movie. In “Fast Five”, the opening action sequence was quite impressive featuring a fast train and a bridge into a deep chasm. This was outdone in “Fast and Furious 6” with the final scene involving an airplane trying to take off and various cars unloading from the cargo hold and chasing after the plane itself.

However, in “Furious 7” we are treated to some of the wildest scenes in the series’ history. I won’t spoil them for you but let’s just say that there is another airplane involved in this movie (not on the ground this time), there are tall buildings with lots of glass windows, and high-speed cars. Oh, and if that isn’t enough to get you to see this, the Japanese title of this movie is, “Wild Speed: Sky Mission.”

Basically, if you are a fan of the “Fast and Furious” series, you will love this movie. In fact, I’d be surprised if you haven’t seen it already. If you haven’t seen any of the other films in the series or are only a little familiar with the characters you will still have a lot of fun as most of the movie is filled with action scenes.

Bottom Line

As far as action movies go, this movie ranks near the top for me. The stunts don’t get any better or any crazier. It appears that there will be a “Furious 8” so I will be looking forward to that. I don’t know how they will outperform “Furious 7” but I’m sure they will find a way. For now, sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy a fantastic ride!

Score: 8/10
